Chanelle Ignant is a sought after guitarist and music educator based in Oakland, CA.
Playing alongside artists such as Artelia Green and the Bandanas, Be Steadwell, Déja Bryson, Jay Marie is Holy, and countless others, she has developed a style that blends elements of jazz, R&B, funk, and acoustic soul. Mostly self-taught over the last 15 years, she’s been honing her craft as a performer on stages of all sizes - from backyard shows and DIY spaces to Bay Area staples like Freight & Salvage, Yoshi’s, and The Independent.
Chanelle is honored to be named a Next Jazz Legacy Awardee under the guidance of Terri Lyne Carrington. Through this opportunity she has had the privilege of performing with Meshell Ndegeocello and receiving mentorship from Matthew Stevens.
Her current projects include Origin Stories, an acoustic duo with her partner Lizzy Dutton, Vibe Muzik, a black&queer led rock/funk/soul band, and solo compositions under the name quatre fleur.
When not playing or writing music she loves teaching guitar and piano to the next generation of music makers.
